Her most well-known role is her role in Coming to America, the romantic comedy that became an international box-office hit. Headley has also appeared in the films The Preacher's Wife (1996) and Johnson Family Vacation (2004). Headley was a frequent on-air host in All My Children, an ABC daytime soap production. She played the role of Detective Mimi Reed from 1991 to 1994. Headley was also the protagonist of the Fox drama series 413 Hope St. (1997-1998) and was nominated for the NAACP Image Award as Outstanding actress in a Drama Series. From 2014 until the year 2016, Headley was a villain in the role of Jennifer Sallison in the Oprah Winfrey Network primetime soap opera The Haves and the Have Nots.
